Being new to the area I have seen very few tattoo shops and was curious as to where people go to get their tattoos and what shops were reputable. I am looking to get my daughters name or her first initial on my Rib Cage. So please post up where you go and what artist you use.
I got an awesome full color dragon from Auburn Tattoo on 49 North about half mile from 80. He worked with me on sizing and made sure the colors were deep. They like the sport bikes too. Did a complete outline to fill in color in one sitting (about 8 hours). Check them out.
I went to Leagacy Ink in Sacramento. George was the one who did my arm just over a year ago. His work is real good and if you like the "classic" style, he loves doing color. (He used to work at Auburn Tattoo). I've also read the Syndicate Tattoo in Auburn off hwy 49 and dry creek rd. was mentioned in the Sacramento Magazine and received great reviews.
Forever Tattoo has really good reviews also and Wild Bill's in Roseville has been around forever. I would recommend looking on the tattoo forums for recommendations as it will be a lifelong investment. You want the best you can afford.
Yeah I have several already. 1 regretful one. But hey you live and learn. I had a shop and a guy lined up for this in PHX but decided to wait to spend the money since we were moving here.
My cousin does tats on the side every now and then. He's done a couple for my friends and even my mom and aunt. He's surprisingly good at it.
I heard that. I wouldn't say I regret mine, but I could have done more research. Found out after the fact that Hangtown Tattoo has a horrible reputation. lol
I had an aquaintance that worked at a shop and had him start on some Bio Mech art and then got deployed halfway through. So when I got back he was gone and had to find someone to cover it up since no one wanted to finish it.
KC - whatever you do, DON'T go to Exotic Body. i went there on a recommendation from five people and i had to have laser removal to get the resulting tattoo lightened enough to have it redone. i did research and went to iicon tattoo on del paso for the repair job. the neighborhood is beyond dodgy, but bernardo is awesome. he has exquisite lines. also, the royal peacock (dave is the best artist there) in midtown is very very good. however, no matter what the recommendations are, don't take just our words for it - go to the places, talk to the artists and see who gives you the best vibe. good luck!!

I have been going to fallen angel for a while now, have a chestpiece and sleeve on my arm they have been doing and they are by far (IMHO) the best in sac. They have a TON of talent in that shop that ranges pretty much every style. Kristina has gotten a very large backpiece there as well as some stuff on her wrists and will be starting her half sleeve this weekend. I HIGHLY recommend them, I have gone to alot of local shops and been vibed and made feel as if I wasnt cool enough to be there, and have had alot of mediocre experiences, although there are some other good ones out there local ( Folsom city ink did 2 sleeves on friends of mine that came out very nice as well ) I searched around after being sick of driving to the bay/santa cruz for my guy and wanting to find good talent and good attitude local. It took a bit for me to find someplace I liked and felt it was worth handing them thousands for the work I want done. If you go in there the people we have used so far are Bones,Pat and Jesso, nothing but good things to say of those three and I have seen amazing work out of every other artist there, Tell em Nate sent ya if you do!!
Oh and on a side note, their website is horrible! look past that or follow the links to the artists own sites.

Thanks for all the input peeps. As my Bday nears next month I will probably be getting the artwork done them. I am still debating on getting just my daughters first inital or getting her full name. I am having trouble finding fonts to go with, I might have to have the artist come up with something if I go the full name.
