I found a great deal on a front 16.5" Marchesini rim on craigslist. It is made for a GSX-R but with a couple small mods it should fit fine on the RC51. Even came with a couple slicks, but they are probably to old to be of much use.

    Nice!

Are you going to have issues getting good tires for that size rim? or will they just be really expensive?

Also, will your rotors bolt right up? Will you need spacers for your calipers etc?

    Keep us updated!

Superbike slicks are 16.5". In fact the only classes where 17's are required are production classes.

I would love to have a 16.5 for the front of my RC51. That should make that pig change direction a lot quicker.

Have you tried raising your forks in the triples a bit?

I assume your'e directing that at me. And actually, to be totally honest I haven't played with the setup hardly at all. However, I am loath to raise the forks as it does twitch a bit over bumps and I don't want to make it worse. I didn't ride hardly at all last summer, this summer I will have plenty of time to play with it.

Since it is only for the track the slicks sould be about the same price for both 16.5 and 17". They came with stock 05 gsxr 1000 rotors but they are to small, BUT, the rotors from my SRAD are the exact same diameter and bolt right on. I do need to space them out about 1/16" on each side to have the same spread as the OEM wheel which should be no problem. I am trying to figure out if I should replace the bearings with some that are the same size as the OEM Honda axel or make some bushings with the spacers I am already going to need. The Honda's seem to use an off-size bearing of 22mm, most are 25mm, but I have found the right size online, just trying to figure out what is going to work best.

I raised the forks in my triples a little and it made a great difference in the handling, it turns in more like my GSXR and with the scott's dampiner, I have no problem with any twitching.

How much is a little, 5mm? I considered a damper but my spare cash is fairly sparse these days.

Yes, try raising the forks in the triple clamps so 5mm more sticks out the top.
Also it might be possible to adjust the ride height in the rear (raise it) to help fix this as well.

The rear isn't adjustable although I think it can be shimmed. I'm pretty sure that's what Dan Kyle recommends. I'm not stressed about it at this point.

I say chopper that bitch out and start going to the gym more , blahh what do I know, not much , just bored.

Years ago when pilots complained of stiff controls etc. I actually once showed up in the cockpit, handed them a tennis ball, and said squeeze this for the next four days and you should be fine on your flight out.

Yeah, it was about 5mm's or so. It seemed to make a world of difference on mine, it just want's to fall into the turns now.

I don't think there's a Thunderheader available for it. The HA's aren't real fond of Hondas last I checked.

On one of my flights the pilot was delaying the takeoff because of engine trouble. After 30 minutes of waiting I went up and asked him what was wrong.
He said that we are having engine trouble and couldn't take off because it was missing.
I looked out the window and said "Missing? It's not missing! I can see it right there."
