There have been rumors for quite some time. One thing is true, they did lose their contract with Suzuki.
It was looking pretty sad when I was in there about a month back. Nothing much to speak of in the way of bikes - a few dirt, scooters, small cruisers, and a few 250's. The clothing, parts, and accessories area was looking really thin also - lots of space between racks and shelves. Seriously, it looks bleak in there.
Well its mostly their own fault. Their service department and the economy killed them. I had a great sales experience with my bike, but a crappy service experience. When I bought my TL from them I noticed that the bike kept kicking itself out of gear completely... it was like a week later when I took it back. I had a warranty etc but they tried to tell me that a spring broke and that the clutch was almost worn out (not covered by warranty). So now I have to argue with them and tell them that there is NO WAY that I would burn up a clutch in a weeks time and that they needed to repair the bike and replace the clutch. I told them at most the only thing I would pay for was the deductible for the warranty but thats it and if they wouldn't accept that then I would be dropping the bike off and asking for a full refund. Nobody flinched until I sent some very eloquently written hate mail via their web site. I guess the owner / manager got a hold of it and then had the service guys call me back. The same guys I dealt with before were now kissing my ass to some extent. All the things they wouldn't do before, they were now doing without issue. I then told them that I needed my bike back IMMEDIATELY as I was heading out for Laguna Seca. After my bike sat there for a few weeks and doing all this back and forth with them, I finally got the bike back. If they were customer service oriented (in their service department) they would have done what was reasonable and right by the customer without having to go through so much trouble. I have NO complaints about the salespeople that I've dealt with. I have yet to hear about 1 positive experience when dealing with the service dept though.
Their parts guys were part of it too. You can't have attitudes like they had and expect customers to come back. Plain and simple.
I was told by a sales person that they were dealing with banking and financing issues. That's why the floor was so empty. He told me that they could get anything puchased, but it had to be ordered. Maybe I need to stop by and ask someone else.
It looks like a downward spiral .... They won't be in business too long if they are not making sales, and very little inventory can't make much in the way of sales ....
that is stupid Why have them order it when you can order it yourself, or have wcm order it and get it cheaper. A no brainer.
Not surprised, they tried to rip me off and then blame it on a "computer glitch." Nearly overdrafted my account, good riddance.
Roseville Cycle's sister store Elk Grove Cycle/Honda of Sacramento is closing today (they are a Honda only dealer). Roseville Cycle will be open this weekend but who knows after that. -Cody
Wow, I'm sad to see Elk Grove Cycle close. I've been in there several times for purchases and never had any complaints. Roseville Cycle... that's a different story entirely and I sure won't miss 'em.
Celebrating the closing of any motorcycle shop is sad. I will miss being able to just run down and grab an oil filter or something since it's right down the street. ...and I have TWO suzukis
I was just there Wednesday. Went to check out their gear for kids. They've shrunk the parts and clothing area to about 1/4 of what it used to be. It kinda figured, what with that internet sales debacle and their piss-poor service department. I bought my bike from them, the salesman was very cool, other than that, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......
