Everything below 4000 ft in elevation. Even that is subject to criticism. Just remember to watch for more obstacles and extra slippery surfaces. +1 for even asking because most park there bikes at any sign of rain.
That's a good question, I have been starting to think of that myself lately, as I intend on riding more this winter than in the past. I have been thinking there are two issues, one being the rain, and the other being snow or ice. Just about any roads will be subjected to rain, but not all will get snow. I am thinking staying low will be safest. I don't ever want to run into any icy patches. I am thinking that wentworth will be done soon, whether its already done or a month, I think its time is limited. So I'm thinking maybe 49 and 193 maybe even foresthill may be good bets. I have never rode berryessa, but wonder if it may do better in the winter. I am interested to hear what others think though.
now kurt, thats how I learned to ride in the snow, on a dirt bike in kansas, also learned to not try to get anywhere in the snow.
If you head West to the coastal hills there's plenty of riding all year long. Just be mindful of typical winter hazards like cold surfaces and the wet spots in the shady areas.
This is my favorite time of the year to ride ? especially out at Berryessa (cool weather, much less traffic and squids, thin LE presence, etc). I?ll hit the track during the Spring and Summer, but love riding the canyons (down here) in the Fall/Winter. If you guys decide to head out, let me know? I?ll host your visit. :cheers2:
I am getting my new tires put on Sunday I am thinking about just hitting commanche on the 27th if anybody wants to go
